Biography

Janice Bane has been an integral part of the Nashville music industry since 1987. Her thirty-plus years in music publishing began as a receptionist with Chappell/Intersong Music Group in Nashville. Bane has worked in copyright-related roles at Warner Chappell Music, Hamstein Music Group, Copyright.Net, MCS Music America, and Conexion Media Group. In 2012 Janice joined the Barbershop Harmony Society team as Music Library & Licensing Coordinator and was elevated to Copyright & Licensing Manager in 2014. She currently serves as Senior Manager, Copyright for the organization. Bane oversees all music clearances, licensing, perfection of rights, and royalty operations for the Society’s IP assets.

Janice holds memberships in Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), Copyright Society of the South, Publishers Administrators Network, and the Barbershop Harmony Society. In 2016 Bane was elected to the Board of Directors for the Copyright Society of the South and served as Secretary. She was appointed Administrative Director of the Copyright Society of the South in December 2021.

Janice Bane holds a degree in Recording Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University. A long-time church musician, Janice currently serves as sanctuary pianist and music co-director for St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
