Candidacy Information

Office Sought:

National Vice President

Vision for Sinfonia:

At the national level, our next triennium will be primarily concerned with rebuilding our national volunteer leadership structure, correcting the issues that exist between our National Constitution and Bylaws and the not-for-profit laws in our state of incorporation, rebuilding trust in our fraternity’s institutions, and making sure that the will of the members of our fraternity are what guide us going forward. If the next NEC gets this right, then three years from now we can get back to focusing on our music.

Why Are You Running:

I don’t wish to run for office. In an ideal world, without the trials our organization has experienced over the past several years, I would be working as a Province Governor, helping to train and serve the collegians in Georgia, and, I would be working to serve the Province Governors as their elected Council Secretary. However, our system has been broken. At times like these those who can serve should. Based on many conversations over the past year I feel compelled to step up and offer my services to help right the ship so our national organization can get back to supporting our members in our goals of building better men and bringing the world to harmony.

Qualifications for Office:

I bring with me 20 years of fraternity leadership experience from the chapter level through the national level. I’ve seen how effective our national organization can be with proper leadership as well as how ineffective it can be when leadership is lacking. Along with my experience and historical knowledge I bring a host of skills that should serve our fraternity well. Among them, I am a logistics person. I take pride in being able to analyze large scale problems and identify a clear course of action that will lead to a solution. Additionally, I make sure that those with opinions are heard. Our fraternity has many capable individuals who will need to be a part of the process of rebuilding and taking us to new heights.

Do You Have Strategic/Financial Planning Oversight Experience:

Yes

Strategic/Financial Planning Experience:

Within Phi Mu Alpha, I have directly taken part in the strategic planning of both the Collegiate Province Representatives’ Council and the Province Governors’ Council as council secretary. As Province Governor of Province 33 I was responsible for the planning and execution of province workshops and officer training events. Over the years I have participated in our fraternity’s national committee and strategic planning apparatus. In my professional life as a high school physics teacher I’ve participated in numerous professional organizations as well as the coaching and management of a nationally competitive Science Olympiad team.

Do You Have Experience with Large Budgets:

No
