Devon Marrett

Biography

Brother Devon Marrett (Omicron Gamma Chapter – 2010) served as a Drum Major with the Florida A&M University Marching 100 band for two years. He stopped participating in the band one semester before the tragic hazing death of a fellow Drum Major.

Following the incident, Brother Marrett enrolled in the university’s Community Psychology program and worked as a member of the Anti Hazing Research Initiative. Upon completion of the program, he began delivering public workshops to various groups in an effort to prevent hazing and strengthen organizations.

Over time, this evolved into what is now known as the Drum Major Empowerment Scholarship Foundation, Inc., which provides college readiness resources, student leadership support, marching band training, and hazing prevention education.

In 2018, Brother Marrett was named a HazingPrevention.Org Hank Nuwer Anti Hazing Hero.

He currently serves as a College Readiness Specialist at Miami Dade College and Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University.
